Each state determines the minimum and, if applicable, maximum age requirements for becoming a police officer.
The minimum age requirement can range from 18 to 21 years old. Some departments may have a minimum age for applying, such as 20, with the condition that you must be 21 by the time you are sworn in. Additionally, some departments may have a maximum age limit.
If a department has an age limit, it will be listed under the Minimum Qualifications in the Job Announcement.
